Nominations for the SJVs 2021

It is that time of the year again where the Sir Julius Vogel Awards for New Zealand’s Science Fiction & Fantasy are taking nominations (it was actually that time several weeks ago but life has been rather hectic for 2021 so far).

The SJV Awards are for work published in 2020. I’ve had three stories published this year, and if you want to nominate any of them for the SJV Awards, I’d be thrilled. I’m particularly fond of Arachne’s Web in the special All New Zealand edition of Aurealis, but I also think The Turbine at the End of the World is an important story for the times from Prairie Fire’s special climate change edition. I suppose 2020 was the year of special editions.

You can nominate here.

You have till the end of March to nominate.

As with previous years, to save you some time, here is the information for the stories that you need to nominate:

Title of Work: Arachne’s Web

Author: James Rowland

Category: Best Short Story

Publisher: Aurealis #132 / Chimaera Publications

Contact Information: https://www.jamesrowland.net/contact

Title of Work: The Turbine at the End of the World

Author: James Rowland

Category: Best Short Story

Publisher: Prairie Fire Vol. 41 No.3 / Prairie Fire Press

Once again, thank you for reading my work and I hope you’ve enjoyed the stories from this year. Hopefully they’ll be plenty more to come for 2021. And thanks for nominating!

- James
